While the UK is doing its best to separate itself from Europe, Jose and George have been doing the opposite for Lancashire and Spain. They married at Chelsea Old Town Hall and held their wedding reception at Beaufort House, both on the King’s Road.
Celebrations started in the Brydon Room with Jose and George’s brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews, and their closest friends.
One of the wonderful things about marrying at Chelsea Register Office is passers-by calling out their congratulations. Cars hoot their horns and the vibe is so fun and upbeat. In this case we walked quite a way up the King’s Road so the cheers and toots continued all the way. A small group of revellers on my side of the road quizzed me about being a paparazzi and I pointed to George and Jose walking on the other side of the road. Their reaction was priceless – huge cheers all round.
Towards the end of photographing the family groups, I took one of George and Jose with Alicia, Robin and little Ana. Ana had just woken up from a nap so was a little grumpy. I tried a silly pirouette routine to see if that would make her smile. As everyone cleared the Chelsea Old Town Hall steps, two gentlemen sitting on the adjacent bench were still giggling at my dancing. I asked how it had looked to them. “Like a young Ginger Rogers”, one replied. Bet they used to work in the diplomatic corps.
During portraits of Jose and George, we had to get some photos in front of a shop window sign that just seemed to say everything about their day – “Beautiful Starts Here”. So fitting! We also took some more relaxed portraits on a quiet street just off the King’s Road.
We arrived at Beaufort House for Jose and George’s wedding reception drinks a little early, but manager Roy had the champagne poured for guests after the walk along the King’s Road. The walk took about 15 minutes, making it a convenient reception venue after Chelsea Old Town Hall.
