The Phoenix Pub Chelsea wedding photographer on Smith Street (just off the King’s Road) offers modern and traditional British food. It is an ideal London wedding venue for Chelsea Old Town Hall ceremonies just a 5-minute walk away. It was Elizabeth and Stephen’s choice for a relaxed late lunch following their Chelsea Register Office civil wedding ceremony.
Elizabeth and Stephen live in Cornwall but used to live and work in London. Their Chelsea wedding was the London part of their celebrations, with a larger party organised for Cornwall later this year. They invited their close London friends and chose the Rossetti Room at Chelsea Register Office. It holds 12 guests and is lovely and intimate. Snow was forecast and just as everyone arrived there was a half hour flurry. Once the ceremony started all thought of snow and cold vanished. Elizabeth and Stephen smiled throughout and they personalised their short ceremony with guest readings.
Out onto the King’s Road the snow was melting but can just be seen on the steps and wall lamps. Elizabeth’s burgundy velvet trouser suit looked fantastic in the Winter light. Half of the group walked to The Phoenix, and the other half caught a taxi. The room at the back of the pub had been laid out for lunch and was the perfect size for this party of ten. Everyone had a glass of champagne and toasted Elizabeth and Stephen. I covered the short speeches before wishing them well and leaving them to enjoy their meal.
It was my first visit to the Phoenix and I was thoroughly impressed. A friendly welcome and excellent service. It proved great for photos too. The decor and light were lovely. It’s hard to find somewhere that does food between 3pm and 6pm in Chelsea so it proved ideal.
