Towards the end of 2017 I was invited to take photographs of the Old Marylebone Town Hall reopening party.

Inside, the marble flooring and stunning entrance hall has been polished and is gleaming. There are wonderful loos and even a bridal powder room for final touch ups with an enormous full-length wall mirror. The staircase and corridor outside the seven ceremony rooms are lighter because they have opened up roof lights.

SEVEN NEW CEREMONY ROOMS

The seven new ceremony rooms all retain their features but have had a spectacular make-over. I had serious chair, floor and desk lamp envy! The wooden floors have all be uncovered and are either boards or parquet. Rugs are luxurious. The curtains are simple and blend in – they even have a voile layer with sound proofing. Fascinating. Colours are all earthy, relaxing and chic.

They can accommodate 2 witnesses all the way up to 15 in the two smaller rooms – Paddington Room and Marylebone Room. The next size up – the Pimlico Room and Soho Room – can accommodate up to 20 but would be fine with just a few guests. And then the larger two rooms – the Mayfair Room and Knightsbridge Room – are more suited to those who want all of their guests to sit and can accommodate up to 30. Finally, the Westminster Room, which has changed the least but the new rug and chairs have made so much difference. The rug was so large that it had to be delivered in three sections and sewn together inside the room. Apparently that took a week! This room seats up to 96.

OLD MARYLEBONE TOWN HALL REOPENING PARTY

I photographed the Westminster Register Office team on the main stairs before they took their positions to meet suppliers from across London. For the next hour and a half, bloggers, magazines, planners, photographers, hair and make-up artists, hotels, visitor attractions, digital marketing teams, and publishers took the opportunity to be the first to view this iconic central London wedding venue.

Prosecco and canapes, music by Blue Topaz Strings and the Westminster Register Office team on hand to answer questions. Cameras and mobiles everywhere. Plenty of laughter and smiles. It was a great opportunity to meet up with fellow suppliers too.
