I had the pleasure of photographing Prachi’s Laure de Sagazan wedding dress Mayfair London last summer. As a Westminster Register Office wedding photographer I meet people from all over the World. Prachi and Tony are from India and Australia respectively and had fourteen guests who came from from India, Australia, France, and London.
Prachi loves France and in particular Paris. When it came to her wedding dress she chose Paris designer, Laure de Sagazan. Her dress was chic, short, and white with lace sleeves and lace back detail with pretty buttons. She teamed this with blush court shoes and a floral headdress tied with ribbon. Her flowers were natural in creams, whites and green. Tony wore a navy suit with deep pink and orange tie, and a cream rose buttonhole. There was plenty of colour in this Indian-Australian celebration.
Old Marylebone Town Hall – closed between 2014 and 2018 – means that Westminster’s temporary register office is on the first floor of Mayfair Library on South Audley Street in the heart of Mayfair. There are two rooms in which couples can marry and Prachi and Tony chose the larger and lighter Mayfair Room.
Prachi and Tony walked into the room and the Registrar welcomed everyone. And then a mobile rang… A last minute phone substitution for the music was the culprit – a call for Prachi. Cue laughter all round. Vows and rings exchanged, they signed the official register, and then it was back down the aisle as husband and wife.
Confetti followed on the steps outside the Library and then we did a few groups in the adjacent Mount Street Gardens. There were ‘hellos’ and ‘congratulations’ via Facetime from friends overseas. Prachi’s parents delivered presents to the couple and also to all of the women present. Absolutely stunning Indian batik silk scarves. I was overwhelmed and very touched to be included.
We did a few portraits in and around Mount Street Gardens – injecting some French-style chic – and they then left to join their family and friends at their lunch venue.
In January 2018 Westminster Register Office weddings moved back to Old Marylebone Town Hall so check out my new Old Marylebone Town Hall page here. If you are marrying at Mayfair Library please have a look at my Mayfair page for more information or contact me to discuss your plans.
